The topic for this meeting is the situation for the biotech startups in the Nordic Countries. The biotech companies represent an important source of novel products and technologies for the established pharmaceutical industry. However, during the last 5-6 years it has been very difficult for the Nordic biotech startups to attract capital, and this situation is only improving slowly. The biotech business models have changed significantly in the direction of virtual, “one project” companies and examples of biotech companies with technology platforms or ambitions to become fully integrated companies are rare.
We have invited two speakers from a French and Danish venture fund, respectively. They will present their view on what constitutes a good investment as a background for discussing some of the following questions:
- Will the Nordic region, in particular Medicon Valley Region, be able to foster more than “just” stand alone products in the biotech/pharma space?
– Where will or should the innovations come from?
– Could the established pharma industry participate more in the biotech ecosystem?
We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible to a great evening.
Please inform of your attendance and whether you participate in the dinner (self-paid) by mail to Nicoline at nw@wiborg.com
